Who is a good candidate?
There are really no contraindications for this type of therapy. However if there is any wound, rash, or acne outbreak in the targeted region it is ideal to wait until skin is healed over.
What does it do for the skin?
Skin PRP penetrates into the dermis activating new collagen production by stimulating dormant collagen cells and fibroblasts. This process rejuvenates the appearance of skin allowing for a thicker and stronger mesh which improves or alleviates a variety of skin imperfections such as such as acne, wrinkles, scarring, and dark under eye circles.
Why is PRP better than Botox or fillers ?
Skin PRP is better than Botox or fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, or Radiesse, because it is pausing and reversing the skin’s aging process instead of temporarily improving the appearance of some aspects of aging. PRP affects the overall composition of the skin, improving the touch and texture of the skin as well as minimizing wrinkles and increasing fullness. There is also much less risk associated with PRP as you will not react to your own blood and there is no likelihood of overdoing it, causing you to look like an alien or overly plastic as the PRP spreads throughout the epidermis and your skin will just rejuvenate to its former appearance not a distorted version of it. PRP is a natural form of Botox or Fillers, utilizing your body’s own stem cells.
What kind of results should be expected?
As in any type of medical condition every patient will respond differently, most results are quite significant and there is a vast improvement in the appearance, thickness, and quality of the hair. As always some patients get better results than others, but barring significant medical issues (which will be ruled out beforehand) everyone will gain quite a visible improvement.
3-4 treatments are recommended one month apart however, improvement can be seen between treatments. Patients are given a Theradome helmet to keep at home and wear 3-4 days a week for 20 minutes. After PRP hair treatment is completed users can continue to use weekly or every other week to maintain improvements.
