pH Levels, Cancer, and Weight Loss!

pH is a chemistry term that describes whether something is acidic or alkaline. It’s based on a scale from 1-14, with 1 being the most acidic and 14 being the most alkaline.

The middle is neutral at pH 7. This is an important number, since the body happens to function most optimally at pH 7. In fact, one can only survive within a very strict range of pH 7. Low pH levels are related to cancer, when the body is acidic it’s like a breeding ground for different cancers.

Thankfully, the body has many built in mechanisms to ensure that the pH level doesn’t deviate too much. That doesn’t mean, however, that one can eat and drink whatever they want and keep pH levels optimum.

It’s always best to keep as much strain off of your body as possible to ensure that it keeps functioning optimally. Eating a well-balanced diet is the best place to start.

All foods have an acidic or alkaline value. All proteins such as meats, poultry, fish and dairy are acidic foods. Refined carbohydrates, especially grains, are acidic foods too. Whereas all unrefined carbs, fruits and vegetables, are alkaline. Most fats are neutral. Even though the proteins are acidic they are essential in your diet and they can be balanced out by eating the right amount of fruits and vegetables.

The problems start when you consume refined carbohydrates, especially those grains like breads, pasta, rice, packaged snacks like chips, cookies, crackers, etc. These foods are all highly acidic. Not to mention being packed with sugar and calories that will do nothing but hurt any weight loss efforts.

One particular food to avoid is cheese; it’s highly acidic and very dense in calories. Some other popular foods and drink on the acidic list include beer, coca cola, wine, coffee, oils, tuna, peanut butter, butter, and ice cream. Avoid these highly acidic foods to give the body a rest from having to use vital organs and bone minerals to neutralize the acidity.

The less energy and nutrients the body has to expend on maintaining pH levels, the more energy it has to instead enhance metabolic processes that help burn more fat and build lean muscle. To optimize your body’s functions, stick to eating natural whole foods and keep eating plenty of protein.

But be sure to balance it out by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. Especially the green vegetables, you can’t eat too much of them, it’s one case where more is better. Some popular alkaline foods include almonds, whey protein, avocado, broccoli, carrot, cauliflower, celery, collard greens, tomatoes, kale, sweet potato, and watercress.

Don’t forget to eat those healthy fats to balance it all out. The great thing is that the way to eat to maintain optimal pH levels just so happens to be a very natural and well balanced diet. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

The Metabolic Rejuvenation Program is designed to bring your pH levels back to a more optimum state to better allow weight loss to occur. Call, email, or visit us for more information on this.
